Record deals, movie deals, labeling, royalty agreements, dispute resolution, contract negotiation and review and finalizing joint ventures comprise the field of entertainment law. We have represented small record companies and major managers (i.e. one who represented LeAnn Rimes in her career). Understanding the complexities of entertainment law includes an understanding of intellectual property law and civil trial law. An entertainment law attorney should be well acquainted with the review of intellectual property right issues, dispute resolution issues, payment issues, merchandising issues and the need for lawsuits and how and where they will play out if necessary.

Additionally, one must have a love for art and artists in order to practice this area of law. Entertainment law deals with creation, which is the addition of wealth to our world. A passion for art whether it be a movie, painting, picture, song or dance assists the lawyer in appreciating the work that he or she is protecting. An entertainment law client's most cherished possession is the art form they have created. Fair compensation and/or recognition for one's work or performance is important in a continuing motivation to create. ©
