Injured Student's Fall Causes Alcohol Statutes to Be Put in Place at UNT

|

At the University of North Texas, one student's horrific tumble down a flight of stairs got the faculty's attention, and they have taken pains to see that another incident like this does not happen again in the future. According to Dallas News, the student was at a fraternity and sorority part at UNT. She was intoxicated as she tried to navigate her way down a stairwell. The 20-year-old tripped due the lack of balance from inebriation, and she was seriously hurt. According to reports the young adult was taking part in a student rush event which involved alcohol. Because the student was underage, he should not have had to access to alcohol at all, yet the Delta Sigma Phi house was full of different alcoholic drinks as a part of the rush event.

IN response to the accident, UNT has determined that there is to be no alcohol at fraternity events for the school. If the faculty discovers that students have been violating this new statute, they can be punished accordingly. The new statute will most likely be added to the handbook and enforced by the security guards in the area. If you are injured falling down a flight of stairs or tripping because of intoxication, then you may be able to seek compensation. This is because as an underage student, there should be rules in place at your school that restrict you from being able to drink or have access to alcohol. If you have been injured in a similar situation like this one then you may want to hire a Dallas personal injury attorney to help you with your case.
