L1 Intracompany Transferee - Manager or Executive Visa

Understanding the L-1 Visa

The L-1 visa is an employment-based visa in the United States that permits foreign national executives to enter the country to manage an organization or a major function or division of an organization. It is also used for foreign national managers to supervise work of other supervisory, professional or managerial employees or who manage an essential function, department or subdivision of an organization. Other categories of applicable workers include employees or partners of international accounting firms, foreign employees with specialized knowledge who need to work in the U.S. branch or division of the company, and so forth.

In all cases, the U.S. office must be a parent company, a child company or a sister company to the foreign company and the foreign worker must have at least one year of employment in the foreign company. Application for an L-1 visa starts with a petition to the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) with all supporting documentation that demonstrates eligibility. An experienced Dallas immigration attorney can determine which type of L-1 visa is most suited to your situation and provide the necessary expertise to complete the petition and handle all aspects of the submittal and compliance requirements.
